There is a class of Chinese manufacturing most Western consumers never see. Small workshops, often family-run, that produce precision mechanical models: Stirling engines, turbofan replicas, 3D wooden puzzles with working gear trains. Made in batches of a few hundred by machinists who CNC-mill turbine blades from aluminum billet because plastic injection molding would not do it justice.
